Training Facilities

Balearic Helicopters is located at Son Bonet Aerodrome, just 5 miles north of the city of Palma. Its accessibility, facilities and excellent year-round weather conditions make it perfect for training.

Son Bonet opened in 1936 but it became a dedicated General Aviation Aerodrome when Son Sant Joan (Palma International) Airport opened in 1964. It is a fully licensed VFR aerodrome with 1200m/3900ft asphalt runway, apron, fire cover and fuel services.

The Balearic Helicopters hangar is right on the apron - providing easy access to our fleet, plus extra storage for visiting helicopters. Our offices are also on-site, with a large, air-conditioned training room for ground school and flight briefings.

Safety & Quality

Balearic Helicopters is an authorized AESA centre (Spanish Aviation Safety Agency) with the certificate of Approved Training Organisation ESP.ATO.320 under EASA (the European Aviation Safety Agency).

Balearic Helicopters complies with the most rigorous safety and quality requirements in the aviation industry. We are fully insured and our professional pilots are subject to bi-annual flight testing and medicals.

Balearic Helicopters operates under its own EASA ATO, issued by AESA Spain. ESP.ATO.320

Jonny Greenall was a Core Member of the European Helicopter Safety Team focusing on improving helicopter safety in Europe and worldwide.
