UK CAA Ground School and Ground Examinations can be completed on site here in Mallorca.
All you need, before you arrive, is to pass a UK Class 2 Medical.
The PPL (H) course compromises both flying and a series of ground school subjects. The minimum flying experience required to qualify for the new European licence is 45 hours. This includes a minimum of 10 hours solo. For the holder of a fixed wing PPL (A) a minimum of 39 hours, also to include 10 hours solo.
All ground, pre-flight and post-flight briefings are inclusive in the hourly training rate. The Aviation Authorities designated ground school subjects involve comprehensive briefing by an instructor with some self study on the part of the student. The students are examined using multi-choice papers.
The Robinson R22 is the modern helicopter available for training and has substantially reduced the cost of qualifying for the PPL (H). It is estimated that 85% of all new civilian helicopter pilots are trained on the Robinson R22 and Robinson 44.
Balearic Helicopters also specialise in EASA Type Rating Training which will allow the PPL (H) holder to fly larger four place helicopters such as the Robinson R44.
The Robinson R22 and Robinson R44 helicopters are available to sanctioned PPL (H) holders for self-fly hire.
A popular first step with people who want to know more about flying a helicopter is a PPL (H) lesson in an R22 which costs 199.00 Euros including IVA. This includes a detailed pre-flight ground briefing and 30 minutes actual flying time, during which the student is normally encouraged to take the controls under supervision.
We pride ourselves on the standard of instruction here at Balearic Helicopters and have found that students find the one-to-one instruction more beneficial that the class structure. As far as possible, we endeavour to keep the same instructor with the same student for the majority of the course.

Although this list may at first seem daunting, once the student has started the course, the ground school and flight training forms a logical and common sense part of the PPL (H) course.
Pass a UK CAA Medical (minimum Class 2 level).

Complete an English Language Proficiency Assessment.
