As of the 17th September 2012 EASA came into force, and there have been some changes to the requirements regarding the Proficiency Checks for helicopter pilots. If you want to come out to Mallorca to revalidate your licence please let me know and we can make the necessary arrangements and go through the new requirements.Contact us
Verbal Exam - There is now a specific section in the PC for a Verbal Test with the Examiner, so brush up on your P.O.H.!
Date of Expiry - EASA now mandate that, upon passing an PC flight, the rating is now issued with an expiry date as of the end of the calendar month the rating was due to expire.
Revalidation (non-expired Rating) - This can be revalidated up to 3 months in advance, without it affecting the expiry date. Requirements Minimum flight time is 2 hours, on the Robinson Type you are revalidating, in previous 12 months. This can include the actual PC.
Renewal (expired Rating) You will need to take refresher training at an approved organisation, then pass the PC flight.
If expired by less than 3 months, then we can determine whether or not you need refresher training, depending on your currency on type and take the PC.
If between 3 months and 1 year there is at least a mandatory 2 training sessions and the Proficiency Check.
If over 1 year there is at least a mandatory 3 training sessions and the Proficiency Check.
All of the above training and testing can be signed off in your licence by the examiner.
If over 3 years then you need to retake the full Type Rating training and testing. In this case the Examiner cannot sign off your licence and you need to submit the rating to the CAA, who will issue you with a new Type Rating.
