Mountain flying in a helicopter can be a challenging environment to find yourself in. Balearic Helicopters are able to offer a structured course of training designed to improve your ability not just to fly in the mountains but also to avoid some of the pit-falls.
Geographically you can be mountain flying within 5 minutes of leaving the airport. Mallorca has stunning mountains to test even the most experienced flyer.
The ability to recognise simple things such as wind direction and judge height can all be a challenge in a mountainous environment. Thorough briefs on the days activities will be given by your instructor prior to commencing days flying. Once flying in the mountains you will be amazed by the breathtaking scenery and sheer cliffs that disappear into the sea. Why not take a friend along for a memorable experience.
The course content includes reading the weather signs, power margins, pinnacle and ridge flying and emergency procedures. Full course material is also provided, along with the EHEST HE7 Mountain Flying Safety Leaflet.
Landing on a 3500ft mountain takes both skill and experience; you will get the opportunity to try it for yourself.
This will be five hours of flying you definitely will not forget. The duration is 10 hours ground school and 5 hours flying. The course can be completed in as little as 3 days.
