Pilot Training

Aerial photography is not as easy as most pilots think.  It is one of the most challenging environments that helicopter pilots can be exposed to.

By the very nature of the flying, most, aerial photography can be high risk, due to the operating parameters of the shoot, possibly low level operations, and also involve considerable manoeuvring.  In fact many helicopter manufacturers have safety notes regarding aerial photography in their flight manuals and brochures.

Balearic Helicopters has been flying aerial photography missions for over 15 years and has a wealth of experience in aerial photography, both still pictures and video. We have worked with some of the World’s best photographers for stills images and a host of Television and Film production companies, from BBC’s Top Gear to the Discovery Channel.

Due to requests from pilots interested in learning the art of Aerial Photography we have designed a specialist 1 day course.

There are 4 types of Aerial Photography:

All 4 types will be covered during the course.

The course begins with several accidents analysis of aerial photography missions that went wrong, how the accident occurred and how it could have been prevented.

Then other subjects will be covered including:

The Course culminates with a 1 hour flight in the R44 with a professional photographer and your instructor.  You will learn different techniques for the types of aerial photography, as well as handling and understanding emergency procedures at low level.

At the end of the course candidates will be presented with a Certificate to say that they have attended the Balearic Helicopters Aerial Photography Course.
